About Our Staff |
"Love the child." That's the first rule of The Little Blue House.

| "It is my goal to spoil each and every child that comes to The Little Blue House with love." Carl Foster, Executive Director |
Dedicated volunteers are an important part of our daily operation. Holding, feeding, playing with and reading to the children they ensure our children receive valuable one-on-one interaction. In addition, they accompany the LBH staff and kids on trips to the zoo, playgrounds, county fairs and other fun outings.
The Little Blue House is one of the few programs in the District of Columbia equipped and trained to care for tiny, fragile babies, born prematurely with below normal birth weight, and exposed to cocaine and/or alcohol in utero. At the LBH we are qualified to address their special needs, including apnea monitors and other complicated medical requirements.
Our staff is trained in infant CPR and other lifesaving techniques. To further support these children, our staff receives continued training in areas such as toddler nutrition, depression affecting infants and small children, separation and loss, developmental and emotional issues, positive discipline strategies, and other topics relevant to the children in our care.
