"WE ACTULLY HELP PEOPLE"
The Little Blue House has a single core mission: to foster the development of vulnerable and at risk children and youth in the District in a safe, stable, and healthy evironment. The Little Blue House was founded by private citizens in 1991. For over 17 years, we have been working with children and families. We have seen first-hand how important good medical care, needed therapy, and nurturing relationships are to the healthy development of children, especially those who have experienced abuse and neglect. What's happening now at the LBH? We are currently in the middle of our third annual Summer Youth Development Camp. Youth enrolled in the program come to the LBH five days a week, from 10am-4pm and get to experience all kinds of fun and enriching activities. Academics are a big focus this summer as are going to the beach and the local pools to keep cool in the DC heat!! What's coming up for LBH this fall? LBH Out-of-School Time Program for kids attending schools in Ward 1 (Shaw, Columbia Heights, Mt. Pleasant) five days a week with a focus on academics and youth development. On going programs include our Parents Program and our Family-to-Family mentoring program.
We are also certified by the DC Department of Mental Health to provide Mental Health Rehabilitative Services (MHRS), and paneled with Chartered Health Plan and Health Right. |
